MediaWorks Summer Program

MediaWorks is Wide Angle’s summer workforce development initiative. The program provides paid media education experiences in partnership with Baltimore City’s YouthWorks. During MediaWorks, youth participate in our Build Your Brand initiative. This initiative was launched in summer 2018, after students spent a year learning and creating media around the youth-selected theme, “Why Black Lives Matter”. They learned about their community and the world around them, and expressed a desire to work on media projects to create change. In response, Wide Angle revamped MediaWorks to reflect their vision. Build Your Brand provides students with workforce readiness skills, as they apply their media skills to create design, photography and video campaigns to uplift the mission of organizations and businesses that do good in the community.

Prior Build Your Brand clients include: African Diaspora Alliance, Ballet After Dark, Baltimore American Indian Center, Black Women Build, Black Girls Cook, Blacksauce Kitchen, Eubie Blake Cultural Center, Inclusive Therapists, MCVET, My Law, SANKOFA Children’s Children’s Museum, Strength to Love 2 Farm, Strong Schools Maryland, and Total Health Care.
